Tanzania Market Watch | June 9th 2015: Tanzania equity market fall by TSZ 57 billion today…

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) fell by 6.25 point or 0.23 percent to close at 2,791.75 point and market capitalization recorded at TZS 24,448.39 billion (a reduction of about TSZ 56.76 billion against previous trade session market cap). Likewise, the Tanzania Share Index advanced by 4.15 points to close at 4,712.69 points.

Today, DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,085.54 million from 2,245,368 shares traded in 64 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,728.80 million from 131,010 shares traded in 34 deals. In term of investor type, foreign investors bought a total of TZS 10,308.60 million accounted for about 99 percent of the total market turnover. As a result, foreign investors were net seller (TSZ 968.04 million turnovers) and local investors were net buyers with turnover of TSZ 968.04 million.

The market sentiment was positive today, with 3 advancers and 6 decliners. SWISSPORT Tanzania gained 4.63 percent with a closing price of TSZ 6,330, ACA Tanzania edged by  0.43 percent to close at TSZ 9,330 and Tanzania Cigarette  Company surged by 0.26 percent to trade at TSZ 3,830.00. On the other hand, KCB Group went down by 0.81 percent to conclude at TSZ 1,230.00, Kenya Airways fell by 6.67 percent to close at TSZ 140.00 and News Media Group declined by 0.49 percent to settle at TSZ 4,080. Also, East African Breweries Limited plummeted by 0.60 percent with a closing price of TSZ 6,610.00 and Jubilee Holdings Limited gave away 0.60 percent to end at TSZ 6,610.00.

From the sector perspective, Industrial & Allied sector index added 0.02 percent to close at 6,071.25 and Commercial Services lost 3.32 percent to close at 3,526.35 respectively.
